Family Support

Abbotsford Hospice Society

We support children of all ages who are anticipating or grieving the death of someone special. Our staff and volunteers are trained to support children as they explore complex emotions through expressive play and art based activities that help normalize the grief process.

Abbotsford Restorative Justice & Advocacy Association

Abbotsford Restorative Justice provides a voluntary process whereby victims & affected parties can have a meaningful voice into what needs to happen to repair the harms, when crime or wrong-doing has occurred. We work with referrals from the Abbotsford Police Department, Abbotsford School District as well as various other community referrals.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fraser Valley

Serving as role models, our volunteer mentors act as an extra social support, helping increase a child's self- esteem. Mentors teach by example the importance of giving and giving back, of staying in school, and for having respect for family, peers and community. We pair children and youth with a 1-on-1 mentor and run group mentoring programs built around positive self-image, healthy living, and an active lifestyle.

Caregiver (Foster Parent) Support Program

The CSP was developed in conjunction with the Ministry of Children and Family Development to provide ongoing support to foster families and children in order to maintain foster placements. CSP provides services to assist caregivers in managing a wide range of behaviors and issues related to trauma, diagnoses, attachment and transitions.

In addition to responding to reports from the community regarding children who may be in need of protection, the team also assesses requests for supports to families who are struggling with parenting their children.
